Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IL15NP is an experimental nanoparticle-based formulation of human recombinant interleukin-15 (IL-15). It consists of IL-15 protein encapsulated within PEG-PLGA-COOH nanoparticles. The drug is designed to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) by inducing the expression of ISG15 and upregulating MHC class I molecules (HLA-ABC) on leukemia cells. This mechanism enhances the immunogenicity of the cancer cells, promoting a graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect while potentially minimizing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) when used in the context of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Research indicates that IL15NP can be further modified with anti-CD33 antibodies (CD33-IL15NP) to achieve targeted delivery to CD33-positive AML cells.
