Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The IL18BP program is an immuno-oncology drug candidate being developed by Conformation-X Therapeutics, targeting interleukin-18 binding protein (IL18BP). IL18BP acts as a natural decoy receptor that binds to and neutralizes interleukin-18 (IL-18), a pro-inflammatory cytokine essential for the activation of T cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells. By inhibiting IL18BP, the therapy aims to increase the bioavailability of IL-18 within the tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing the body's immune response against cancer cells. In April 2024, Conformation-X announced successful ex vivo and in vivo proof-of-concept studies for this program, which is being developed as part of a pipeline that includes both first-in-class biologics and orally available small molecule drugs.
