Overview

This is a multi-drug combination therapy consisting of six active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Ilaprazole** (a proton pump inhibitor) - **Amoxicillin** (a beta-lactam antibiotic) - **Clarithromycin** (a macrolide antibiotic) - **Furazolidone** (a nitrofuran antimicrobial agent) - **Doxycycline** (a tetracycline-class antibiotic) - **Bismuth** (typically as bismuth subcitrate or subsalicylate, an inorganic salt with antimicrobial and mucosal protective properties) This combination is designed for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infection, particularly in cases where resistance to standard regimens is suspected or confirmed. Each component targets *H. pylori* through different mechanisms: - Ilaprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion, creating a less acidic environment that enhances the efficacy of antibiotics. - Amoxicillin disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis. - Clarithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. - Furazolidone acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial by damaging bacterial DNA and inhibiting monoamine oxidase. - Doxycycline also inhibits protein synthesis at the 30S ribosomal subunit. - Bismuth compounds have direct bactericidal effects on *H. pylori*, prevent adherence to gastric mucosa, and protect the stomach lining. Such regimens are considered when previous therapies have failed or when high rates of resistance are present. The inclusion of multiple antibiotics aims to overcome resistance patterns and maximize eradication rates[1][6][7][8].
