Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ilaprazole + celecoxib** is a combination therapy consisting of ilaprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and celecoxib, a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor NSAID. Ilaprazole acts by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, suppressing gastric acid production. Celecoxib inhibits the COX-2 enzyme, reducing synthesis of prostaglandins responsible for pain and inflammation while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects common to non-selective NSAIDs. This combination is considered for patients requiring anti-inflammatory treatment but with a higher risk for NSAID-induced dyspepsia or gastrointestinal complications. Ilaprazole protects the gastric mucosa from the potential ulcerogenic effects of NSAID therapy. Clinical studies suggest that a similar combination (aceclofenac + ilaprazole) may be as effective as celecoxib monotherapy with comparable safety for treating NSAID-induced dyspepsia, though there is limited direct data for the ilaprazole + celecoxib pairing[1][3][6].
