Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Ilaprazole + naproxen** is a theoretical or investigational fixed-dose combination of two known drugs: **ilaprazole**, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and **naproxen**, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Naproxen inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing pain and inflammation associated with arthritis and other conditions. Ilaprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, providing gastrointestinal protection. This combination would be intended to treat pain and inflammation (such as in osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis) while reducing the risk of NSAID-induced gastric ulcers, analogous to marketed combinations of other PPIs and NSAIDs. There is no evidence that ilaprazole + naproxen is currently marketed as a fixed-dose combination; similar combinations with other PPIs (e.g., esomeprazole + naproxen, marketed as Vimovo) are approved and used clinically[1][2][3][4].
