Ilixadencel is an off-the-shelf cell-based immunotherapy consisting of allogeneic monocyte-derived dendritic cells (MoDCs) that have been activated to produce pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta), and interleukin-12 p70. It acts as an immune primer by stimulating the patient’s immune system to recognize and attack tumor cells. Ilixadencel is administered intratumorally and is being developed primarily for use in solid tumors including gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), soft tissue sarcoma, and previously renal cell carcinoma. The drug has received orphan drug designation for several indications. It was initially developed by Immunicum AB and is now under development by Mendus[1][5][7].
