Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ILM03 is a preclinical-stage recombinant fusion protein being developed by Illimis Therapeutics for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically synucleinopathies such as Parkinson's disease. Developed using the company's proprietary GAIA (Gas6-mediated Anti-Inflammatory Adaptor) platform, ILM03 is a chimeric bispecific fusion protein designed to clear pathological alpha-synuclein (α-syn) aggregates. One end of the fusion protein binds to alpha-synuclein, while the other end features an engineered growth arrest-specific protein 6 (GAS6) domain that binds and dimerizes TAM (Tyro3, Axl, and Mer) receptors on glial cells (microglia and astrocytes). This dual-binding mechanism triggers the phagocytic clearance of alpha-synuclein aggregates without inducing the pro-inflammatory responses typically associated with Fcγ receptor-mediated antibody clearance, thereby potentially avoiding neuroinflammatory side effects.
