Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Iloprost is a synthetic analog of prostacyclin (PGI2), classified as a vasodilator. It is primarily used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, improving exercise capacity, and slowing symptom progression. Iloprost also inhibits platelet aggregation and has cytoprotective effects in ischemic tissues. In addition to PAH, it is approved for severe frostbite to reduce the risk of digit amputation and is used off-label for conditions such as Raynaud's phenomenon and scleroderma-related vascular complications. Iloprost can be administered via inhalation or intravenous infusion depending on indication[1][2][3][4][5].
