Overview

IM-401 is a monoclonal antibody being developed by ImmunAbs for the treatment of diabetes. It targets Vascular Adhesion Protein-1 (VAP-1), also known as Amine Oxidase Copper-Containing 3 (AOC3), a dual-function protein that serves as both an adhesion molecule and a semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) enzyme. By inhibiting VAP-1, IM-401 aims to reduce the chronic inflammation and oxidative stress that drive insulin resistance and the development of diabetic complications. This approach differs from conventional diabetes treatments that focus primarily on insulin secretion or glucose excretion, instead targeting the underlying inflammatory mechanisms of the disease. The program is currently in the early stages of development.
