Overview

IM92 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Beijing Immunochina Medical Science & Technology. It specifically targets Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), a tight junction protein that is highly expressed in various solid tumors, particularly gastric, esophagogastric junction, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas, while having restricted expression in normal tissues. The therapy involves the ex vivo modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR construct directed against CLDN18.2. Once re-infused into the patient, these engineered T cells recognize and bind to CLDN18.2-positive tumor cells, triggering T-cell activation, proliferation, and the release of cytotoxic molecules to induce tumor cell death. IM92 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with advanced gastrointestinal malignancies who have failed standard therapies.
