Overview

IMA-026 is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody designed to bind and neutralize interleukin 13 (IL-13), a cytokine involved in allergic inflammation and immune responses. By targeting IL-13, IMA-026 acts as an interleukin 13 inhibitor, aiming to reduce airway hyperresponsiveness and inflammation associated with asthma. The drug was developed by Wyeth (now part of Pfizer) for the treatment of asthma, but development has not progressed beyond early clinical trials. Its mechanism involves binding non-overlapping epitopes on IL-13 compared to similar antibodies like IMA-638[1][2][4][5][6].
