IMA901 is a therapeutic multi-peptide cancer vaccine developed for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. It consists of 10 synthetic tumor-associated peptide (TUMAP) antigens—9 HLA class I-binding peptides that activate CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and 1 HLA class II-binding peptide that activates CD4+ helper T-cells. These peptides are derived from proteins commonly expressed by renal cell carcinomas, aiming to stimulate a targeted immune response against tumor cells. The selection of these peptides was based on an integrated genomics and immunology approach, ensuring broad coverage across patient tumors. In clinical studies, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) was used as an adjuvant to enhance immune responses. The drug showed promising immunogenicity and survival signals in early-phase trials but did not achieve sufficient efficacy in later-stage studies, leading to discontinuation of its development for renal cell carcinoma[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
