Overview

BAX69 + panitumumab is an investigational combination therapy consisting of imalumab (BAX69) and panitumumab. Imalumab is a fully human recombinant monoclonal antibody that targets oxidized macrophage migration inhibitory factor (oxMIF), a disease-associated isoform of the cytokine MIF that is often overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment and promotes tumor progression and immune evasion. Panitumumab is a recombinant, fully human IgG2 monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to the human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), inhibiting the binding of EGF and other ligands, thereby blocking downstream signaling pathways involved in cell growth and survival. This combination was evaluated in a Phase 2a clinical trial for patients with KRAS and NRAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who had progressed on prior therapies. The development was conducted by Baxalta (now part of Takeda), but the trial was terminated early following a benefit-risk assessment.
