Overview

**Imatinib + chemotherapy** is not a single fixed-dose combination drug but refers to the administration of **imatinib** (a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor) alongside one or more chemotherapeutic agents. Imatinib inhibits the BCR-ABL fusion protein, which drives the proliferation of cells in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and some cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). "Chemotherapy" in this context refers to cytotoxic drugs commonly used in cancer treatment (such as doxorubicin, cytarabine, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and others), which act primarily by interfering with DNA replication or cellular metabolism, broadly targeting rapidly dividing cells. The combination is sometimes used experimentally or in advanced/metastatic settings, such as for CML, certain gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), and other BCR-ABL-positive leukemias or solid tumors, to improve outcomes or overcome resistance to single-agent therapy[2][3].
