Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IMC-001 refers to two distinct investigational cancer therapies in clinical development, both using the code name "IMC-001" but with different modalities and mechanisms of action: 1. **Anti-PD-L1 Monoclonal Antibody (ImmuneOncia):** IMC-001 is a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1, also known as CD274). By binding to PD-L1, it blocks the interaction between PD-L1 on tumor cells and PD-1 on T cells, thereby inhibiting an immune checkpoint pathway that tumors use to evade immune detection. This restores T cell activity against cancer cells. The antibody also has ADCC (antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity) functionality, enabling innate immune-mediated killing of tumor cells. It is being developed primarily for advanced solid tumors[3][6][7]. 2. **EpCAM-targeted CAR-T Cell Therapy (Immunofoco Biotech):** A separate therapy named IMC001 is an autologous CAR-T cell product targeting EpCAM (epithelial cell adhesion molecule), designed for infusion into patients with EpCAM-positive gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric and colorectal cancer. This therapy genetically engineers a patient's own T-cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor specific for EpCAM, enabling direct recognition and killing of tumor cells expressing this antigen[2][4][5]. It has shown promising early efficacy in phase 1 trials. Both products are in early-phase clinical trials for various advanced solid tumors.
