IMC-002 is a fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets CD47, a cell surface protein often overexpressed on tumor cells. By binding to CD47, IMC-002 blocks its interaction with signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPa) on phagocytic cells, thereby promoting the phagocytosis of tumor cells by macrophages and stimulating anti-tumor immune responses. The drug has been engineered for optimal efficacy and safety, with preclinical studies showing selective binding to tumor cells over normal red blood cells to minimize hematological toxicity such as anemia—a common class effect of CD47-targeting antibodies. IMC-002 is being developed primarily for the treatment of advanced solid tumors and relapsed or refractory lymphomas. It is currently in Phase I clinical trials in the United States and South Korea, with early data indicating an acceptable safety profile and preliminary evidence of disease control in heavily pretreated patients[1][2][4][5][6].
