Overview

IMC-1C11 is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that acts as an anti-angiogenesis agent by specifically targeting the kinase insert domain-containing receptor (KDR), also known as vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2). By blocking the interaction between VEGF and VEGFR2/KDR, IMC-1C11 inhibits VEGFR-induced endothelial cell proliferation, thereby suppressing angiogenesis—a process critical for tumor growth and metastasis. The drug was developed primarily for oncology indications, including solid tumors such as colorectal carcinoma with hepatic metastases. IMC-1C11 was originally developed by ImClone Systems but its development has been discontinued for solid tumors[1][2][3][6].
