IMC001

IMC001 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy that targets the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), a transmembrane glycoprotein highly expressed on the surface of various gastrointestinal cancers, including colorectal and gastric cancer. Developed by Immunofoco Biotech, IMC001 is designed to recognize and bind to EpCAM-expressing tumor cells, leading to their destruction through CAR-T mediated cytotoxicity. The therapy has demonstrated promising anti-tumor activity in early-phase clinical trials for advanced gastrointestinal malignancies, with manageable safety profiles and evidence of durable responses in some patients. IMC001 received orphan drug designation from the US FDA in August 2023 and represents the first EpCAM-targeted CAR T-cell product to gain investigational new drug approval in both the United States and China[2][3][4][7][8].
