IMD-1005 is a monoclonal antibody developed by Affinity Biopharmaceutical that targets CD47, a transmembrane protein overexpressed on various cancer cells. CD47 functions as a "don't eat me" signal by interacting with signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPα) on macrophages, thereby inhibiting phagocytosis. By binding to CD47, IMD-1005 blocks this inhibitory signal, enabling the innate immune system to recognize and eliminate tumor cells. It is currently in Phase 1 development for the treatment of advanced solid tumors.
