IMD-2560 is a small molecule, orally administered prodrug of IMD-0560 that acts as an inhibitor of IKKβ (nuclear factor kappa B kinase subunit beta). It was developed by the Institute of Medicinal Molecular Design (IMMD) for the treatment of immune system diseases, endocrinology and metabolic diseases, and skin and musculoskeletal diseases. The drug’s mechanism involves non-ATP competitive inhibition of IKKβ, which blocks NF-kB activation under inflammatory stimuli and reduces cytokine production such as IL-6. This mechanism is considered to offer a safety advantage over ATP-competitive inhibitors. IMD-2560 has been investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials for indications including osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, acne vulgaris, and atopic dermatitis[1][2][3][4][5].
