Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IMGX-101 is a therapeutic candidate being developed by IMGENEX for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. It is a biologic agent designed as a single-chain variable fragment (ScFv) or nanobody that targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). By binding to and inhibiting PCSK9, IMGX-101 prevents the degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of hepatocytes. This leads to increased LDLR activity, which enhances the clearance of circulating LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. The drug is currently in the preclinical/discovery stage of development.
