HOB-294 is a transdermal patch formulation of imidafenacin, a selective muscarinic M1 and M3 receptor antagonist, being developed by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB). Imidafenacin works by antagonizing muscarinic receptors in the bladder, thereby inhibiting involuntary detrusor muscle contractions and increasing bladder capacity. The transdermal delivery system is designed to provide stable plasma concentrations of the drug over a 24-hour period with once-daily application, potentially reducing the incidence of systemic side effects such as dry mouth and constipation compared to oral formulations. As of 2024, HOB-294 is in Phase III clinical development in Japan.
