Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Imidazoline receptor effectors (benzimidazole derivatives) are a class of small molecule compounds developed by nanoigel that function as agonists of the imidazoline I2 receptor. These compounds are being explored for their potential in geroprotection (anti-aging), as well as for managing arterial hypertension and hypoglycemia. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development, with the underlying technology described in patent WO2021145785A1. The I2 receptor is a non-adrenergic binding site involved in various physiological processes, and its modulation is proposed to offer therapeutic benefits in metabolic and cardiovascular conditions.
