imidocarb

Imidocarb is a urea derivative and small molecule antiprotozoal agent used in veterinary medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of infections caused by protozoa such as Babesia (babesiosis), Anaplasma in cattle, and Ehrlichia canis in dogs. Its mechanism of action is not fully understood but proposed mechanisms include inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (anticholinergic effect), interference with polyamine production/utilization in Trypanosoma brucei, and prevention of inositol entry into erythrocytes infected with Babesia ovis. Imidocarb is administered as the dipropionate salt via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection[1][2][5][6].
