imitatevir

Imitatevir (also known as HEC585) is a second-generation hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A inhibitor developed by Guangdong Dongyangguang Pharmaceutical (HEC Pharm). It is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection, typically administered in combination with other direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) such as the NS3/4A protease inhibitor furaprevir. Imitatevir works by binding to the NS5A protein, a non-structural protein essential for viral RNA replication and the assembly of new virions. In December 2020, the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved the combination of imitatevir and furaprevir for the treatment of adult patients with genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C. Clinical studies have also evaluated its pharmacokinetics and drug-drug interactions, particularly with proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, to ensure optimal dosing in patients with gastric comorbidities.
