Overview

IMM-101 is a heat-inactivated immune-activating mycobacterial product derived from Mycobacterium obuense. It acts as an immune activator by stimulating dendritic cells and triggering the release of cytokines and chemokines, enhancing the innate immune response and promoting a type-1 immune response (cDC1). This activation leads to increased antigen-specific responses, including expansion of CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes and CD4+ Th1 cells, which help in killing cancer cells. IMM-101 is being developed primarily as an immunotherapy adjunct for cancers such as melanoma, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and colorectal cancer. It has also been investigated for protective effects against severe COVID-19 infection in cancer patients. The drug is administered intradermally.
