IMM-124E is an orally administered, hyperimmune bovine colostrum-derived product enriched with polyclonal antibodies, primarily targeting bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) antigens. The colostrum is harvested from dairy cows immunized against outer antigens—mainly LPS—of multiple strains of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), resulting in high titers of specific IgG1 and IgA antibodies, with smaller amounts of IgM and IgE. These polyclonal antibodies can cross-react with other Gram-negative bacteria. IMM-124E acts locally in the gut to neutralize LPS and other bacterial surface antigens, thereby reducing endotoxemia and modulating immune responses. It has demonstrated immunomodulatory effects including increased regulatory T cells and improved metabolic markers such as GLP-1 and adiponectin levels. Developed by Immuron, it is being investigated for a range of indications including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), type 2 diabetes, traveler’s diarrhea, urinary tract infections, shigella infections, autism spectrum disorder, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19), alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH), inflammatory bowel diseases like colitis/IBD/IBS/liver fibrosis[2][3][5][6][7][9].
