IMM-H007 is a synthetic small molecule derivative of berberine developed by the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, for the treatment of dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia. It functions through a dual mechanism of action: it activates adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and downregulates the expression of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). These actions lead to increased expression and stability of the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) on the surface of hepatocytes, thereby enhancing the clearance of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream. IMM-H007 has demonstrated significant lipid-lowering efficacy in preclinical models and has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in China, showing a favorable safety profile and the potential to address unmet needs in patients with hyperlipidemia.
