ImmTAV (Immune mobilising monoclonal T cell receptors Against Virus) molecules are novel bispecific biologics designed to redirect the immune system to recognize and eliminate virally infected cells. These molecules use affinity-enhanced T cell receptors (TCRs) that specifically bind viral antigens presented on infected cells and simultaneously engage CD3 on non-exhausted T cells, thereby recruiting them to kill the target cell. The platform is being developed by Immunocore for chronic infectious diseases such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and HIV. For HBV, candidates like IMC-I109V target hepatocytes expressing hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), aiming for a "functional cure" defined as sustained HBsAg loss with undetectable HBV DNA after treatment cessation. For HIV, candidates such as IMC-M113V target HIV Gag antigens in patients on antiretroviral therapy with the goal of achieving durable viral control without lifelong medication[1][2][6][7].
