Overview

Immulina is a commercially available oral dietary supplement derived from the cyanobacterium *Arthrospira platensis* (also known as *Spirulina* or *Limnospira*). It is enriched with Braun-type lipoproteins, which act as potent Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) agonists. This activation leads to the enhancement of innate and adaptive immune responses, including increased natural killer cell activity, T-helper cell proliferation, and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, IL-6, and IFN-gamma. Immulina has been investigated for its potential to enhance host resilience to viral infections, mitigate influenza illness, modulate immune measures, and address conditions like Post Acute COVID-19 Syndrome and immune senescence in elderly individuals. Preclinical studies also suggest potential anti-cancer and anti-allergic inflammatory effects.
