Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Immune globulin 10% (human) is a sterile, liquid formulation of highly purified immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies derived from large pools of human plasma. This 10% concentration is a standard strength for several intravenous and subcutaneous immunoglobulin therapies, providing a broad spectrum of opsonizing and neutralizing IgG antibodies against bacterial, viral, and other pathogens, as well as immunomodulatory effects. In the context of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company's portfolio, this formulation (marketed as Gammagard Liquid or Kiovig) serves as the primary therapeutic component in HYQVIA (TAK-771), a facilitated subcutaneous immunoglobulin (fSCIG) system. In HYQVIA, the 10% immune globulin is co-administered with recombinant human hyaluronidase, which temporarily increases subcutaneous tissue permeability to allow for the infusion of large volumes of IgG. It is indicated for the treatment of primary immunodeficiency (PID) and autoimmune neuromuscular disorders, including chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) and multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN).
