Immunomodulatory Alpha Neutrophils (IMANs) are a first-in-class, off-the-shelf, allogeneic neutrophil-based cell therapy developed by LIfT BioSciences. Derived from CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), IMANs are functionally engineered to remodel the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) and restore innate immune competence. Unlike traditional neutrophils, IMANs exhibit enhanced persistence (up to 21 days in vivo) and anti-tumor activity. They work by infiltrating solid tumors, recruiting and activating T cells and NK cells, and inducing direct antigen-independent cytotoxicity. IMANs are being developed for the treatment of various solid tumors, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC), both as a monotherapy and in combination with checkpoint inhibitors or CAR-T therapies.
