ImmunoNova is a biological immunotherapy consisting of caprine-derived (goat) polyclonal antibodies designed to treat viral infections and certain cancers. Developed by the South African biotechnology company ImmunoNova, the drug is produced by immunizing goats with specific viral antigens or tumor-associated proteins to elicit a broad-spectrum immune response. The resulting serum is processed to isolate polyclonal antibodies that target multiple epitopes on the pathogen or tumor surface. In the context of HIV-1, the antibodies are intended to bind to viral envelope glycoproteins, such as gp120 and gp41, thereby neutralizing the virus and preventing its entry into host CD4+ T-cells. The platform has also been adapted for other indications, including COVID-19, where it targets the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Clinical development has primarily taken place in South Africa, focusing on evaluating the safety and efficacy of the therapy in reducing viral load and improving immune function in patients with chronic viral infections.
