**ImmunoVEX HSV2** is a live-attenuated herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) vaccine candidate rationally engineered by deleting key immune evasion genes, including ICP47, vhs (virion host shutoff protein), γ34.5, US5 (glycoprotein J), and UL43. Developed initially by BioVex (subsequently acquired by Amgen), it aims to prevent genital herpes by eliciting robust antiviral immunity while preventing viral immune suppression and replication in neurons. Preclinical studies in animal models demonstrated complete prevention of genital herpes symptoms and strong immune responses, with early Phase I clinical trials initiated in the UK around 2010 to assess safety and immunogenicity in humans.[1][5][7][10][12]
