Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ImmuStem is a preclinical-stage cell therapy being developed by Escape Therapeutics for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). The therapy utilizes immune-tolerant mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) derived from adult sources. The mechanism of action involves using these stem cells to modulate immune responses, with the goal of preventing or treating GVHD, a serious complication that can occur following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. As a cell-based therapeutic modality, ImmuStem represents an approach to address GVHD through immune regulation rather than traditional pharmacological immunosuppression.
