Overview

imNK (immuno-modulatory natural killer cells) is a preclinical-stage natural killer (NK) cell therapy being developed by Therabest for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The therapeutic approach utilizes activated NK cells to restore the impaired phagocytic and autophagic functions of microglia, which are crucial for clearing amyloid-beta plaques in the brain. In preclinical mouse models of Alzheimer's disease, intravenous administration of imNK cells demonstrated a reduction in amyloid-beta plaque accumulation in the cortex and dentate gyrus of the hippocampus, along with improvements in cognitive decline and neuroinflammation. Therabest is leveraging these preclinical findings to advance an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived 'off-the-shelf' NK cell therapy (EiNK) into clinical development for Alzheimer's disease.
