IMO-2125 + ribavirin is an investigational **combination therapy** consisting of IMO-2125, a novel DNA-based Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist, and ribavirin, a well-established antiviral small molecule. The combination has been evaluated primarily in the treatment of **chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV)** infection, particularly in treatment-naive patients with genotype 1 HCV. IMO-2125 is designed to induce endogenous interferon-alpha and other immune response factors, thereby stimulating a Th1-type immune response to enhance the antiviral effect of ribavirin. The rationale for this combination is that IMO-2125’s immune modulation may provide an alternative or adjunct to recombinant interferon, promoting antiviral cytokine release and broad immune activation, while ribavirin directly inhibits viral replication. The combination has shown dose-dependent reductions in HCV RNA levels and immunological activation in early-phase clinical studies.
