Overview
IMOD (brand name Setarud) is a multiherbal immunomodulating drug developed by the ParsRus Research Group. It is a botanical formulation composed of *Urtica dioica* (stinging nettle) extract, carotenoids, urea, and selenium. The drug acts by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-α), Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and Interleukin-2 (IL-2). IMOD has been primarily investigated for the treatment of severe sepsis, where it has demonstrated efficacy in reducing mortality and improving clinical severity scores such as SAPS, SOFA, and APACHE. Additionally, it has been studied for its potential in managing HIV/AIDS by improving CD4+ T-cell counts, as well as for ulcerative colitis and type 1 diabetes.
