Overview

Imolamine is a coronary vasodilator that was historically used in the treatment of angina pectoris and other forms of ischemic heart disease. It exhibits antianginal and metabolic effects, as well as platelet antiaggregating activity. Electrophysiologically, it has been shown to affect His-Purkinje conduction and possess antiarrhythmic properties, particularly in antagonizing digitalis-induced rhythm disorders. However, its clinical use has been largely discontinued due to reports of severe adverse effects, most notably severe cytolytic hepatitis.
