IMP27 is a proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) designed to induce the targeted degradation of KAT6A (Lysine Acetyltransferase 6A). Developed by Impact Therapeutics, it is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. KAT6A is an epigenetic regulator that plays a significant role in gene expression and is frequently dysregulated in various cancers. By recruiting an E3 ubiquitin ligase to KAT6A, IMP27 facilitates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of the target protein, offering a potential therapeutic advantage over traditional enzymatic inhibition by eliminating both the catalytic and non-catalytic functions of KAT6A.
