IMP3 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3, also known as IMP3). IMP3 is an oncofetal protein and a member of the VICKZ family of RNA-binding proteins, which is often overexpressed in various cancers, including pancreatic, lung, bladder, and kidney cancers, and is associated with poor prognosis. In preclinical studies, particularly in pancreatic cancer cell lines like Hs766T, treatment with IMP3 siRNA has been shown to significantly reduce cellular adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins (such as fibronectin and vitronectin), decrease motility, and inhibit invasive potential through Matrigel. This suggests that targeting IMP3 via RNA interference may be a viable strategy for inhibiting tumor metastasis.
