Overview

IMP321 + influenza vaccine is a **combination therapy** consisting of IMP321 (eftilagimod alpha) and an influenza vaccine. IMP321 (eftilagimod alpha, efti) is a recombinant soluble LAG-3 (lymphocyte activation gene-3) Ig fusion protein that acts as an antigen-presenting cell (APC) activator by engaging MHC class II on APCs, thereby promoting activation, maturation, and cytokine/chemokine secretion from dendritic cells and monocytes. This enhances T cell activation, especially CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes, resulting in a stronger and more sustained immune response. When administered with an influenza vaccine, IMP321 serves as an immunomodulatory adjuvant, aiming to increase the immunogenicity and efficacy of the vaccine by amplifying both innate and adaptive immune responses. IMP321 is developed by Immutep and generally administered subcutaneously. This combination has demonstrated good safety and tolerability in healthy volunteers, with the primary immunological effect being enhanced vaccine responses, though clinical efficacy in oncology and infectious disease settings is still under investigation[1][2][3][6].
