Overview

IMP731 is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting lymphocyte activation gene-3 (LAG3, also known as CD223), developed originally by Immutep and later licensed to GlaxoSmithKline. It is designed to selectively deplete recently activated LAG3-expressing T cells, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. By specifically targeting these pathogenic T cells through mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), IMP731 aims to provide targeted immunosuppression while sparing resting T cells, potentially reducing the risk of broad immunosuppression seen with traditional therapies. The drug has been investigated for conditions including ulcerative colitis and plaque psoriasis[1][2][4][5][7].
