imrecoxib

Imrecoxib is a moderately selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor belonging to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It was developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine and launched in China in 2011. Imrecoxib is indicated for the relief of painful symptoms associated with osteoarthritis and has demonstrated efficacy similar to celecoxib. Its mechanism involves inhibition of COX-2-mediated prostaglandin synthesis, resulting in anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Imrecoxib has also been explored for potential off-label uses including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, perioperative pain, hand-foot syndrome, axial spondyloarthritis, COVID-19-related inflammation, cartilage injury repair, and certain malignancies such as lung and colon cancer. Compared to other NSAIDs or COX-2 inhibitors like celecoxib or diclofenac, imrecoxib may offer advantages such as lower incidence of hypertension and gastrointestinal toxicity[1][2][4][5][6].
