Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IMS001 is an investigational allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy derived from the clinical-grade human embryonic stem cell (hESC) line ESI-053. Developed by ImStem Biotechnology using technology sublicensed from AgeX Therapeutics, IMS001 is designed to leverage the immunomodulatory and regenerative properties of MSCs to treat autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Unlike traditional MSCs derived from adult tissues, which can suffer from donor variability and limited scalability, IMS001 is produced from a pluripotent stem cell source, allowing for a more consistent and scalable "off-the-shelf" product. The lead indication for IMS001 is multiple sclerosis (MS), specifically for patients who have failed prior disease-modifying treatments. It is also being developed as a potential treatment for COVID-19-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
