Overview

iMSC refers to "induced mesenchymal stem cells," which are derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These cells are a type of advanced therapy medicinal product used in regenerative medicine and cell therapy. The process involves reprogramming somatic cells into iPSCs and then differentiating them into mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs), which possess immunomodulatory properties and the ability to promote tissue repair. The main mechanism of action is believed to be paracrine signaling that modulates immune responses and supports regeneration in damaged tissues. Pluristyx is one company developing proprietary iMSC technology for clinical use, with Stemmatters as a manufacturing partner for large-scale production[6]. Primary indications under investigation include various degenerative diseases and conditions requiring tissue regeneration or immune modulation.
