Imunor is an oral biotherapeutic drug composed of a dialyzable leukocyte extract (DLE) derived from swine (pig) leukocytes, specifically consisting of ultrafiltered peptides (less than 12 kDa) and nucleotides. Approved since 1997 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of immunodeficiencies, allergies, and recurrent bacterial infections in both adults and children. Imunor acts as an immunomodulator and hematopoiesis stimulant by inducing the endogenous production of key cytokines, most notably granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). These cytokines facilitate the recovery and proliferation of granulocyte-macrophage progenitor cell populations, suggesting potential utility in mitigating myelosuppression induced by chemotherapy (e.g., cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil) or ionizing radiation. Furthermore, Imunor exhibits homeostatic regulatory properties, such as the ability to suppress nitric oxide and pro-inflammatory cytokine production in cases of immune overstimulation. It has been investigated in clinical trials for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
