IMV-5 (also known as IMV-005) is a small molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT), an enzyme that plays a critical role in the NAD+ salvage pathway. By inhibiting NAMPT, IMV-5 depletes intracellular NAD+ levels, which leads to metabolic stress, inhibition of ATP-dependent processes, and ultimately cell death in cancer cells that are highly dependent on this pathway. The compound was originally developed by ImmuVen, a biotechnology company that focused on T-cell receptor and metabolic therapies. Following the acquisition of ImmuVen by AbbVie in 2014, research on IMV-5 has primarily been documented in preclinical studies, particularly in the context of hematological malignancies such as multiple myeloma and leukemia. Despite showing potent anti-tumor activity in vitro and in animal models, there is no public record of the drug advancing into clinical trials.
