Overview

IN-2001 is a synthetic small molecule that acts as a histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. Developed primarily for oncology research, it has demonstrated the ability to induce growth arrest, promote cell differentiation, and trigger apoptosis in various cancer cell lines, most notably the MCF-7 human breast cancer line. By inhibiting HDAC enzymes, IN-2001 alters the acetylation state of histones, leading to chromatin remodeling and the reactivation of tumor suppressor genes. Preclinical studies have shown that IN-2001 can effectively inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, suggesting potential therapeutic utility in treating malignancies characterized by epigenetic dysregulation.
