Overview

iN3011-K23 is an investigational small molecule P2X7 receptor antagonist being developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical (sometimes referred to as Great Bear Pharmaceutical in literal translation) for the treatment of epilepsy. The drug is part of the ion channel platform managed by Daewoong's subsidiary, iN Therapeutics. iN3011-K23 targets the P2X7 receptor, an ATP-gated ion channel that plays a critical role in neuroinflammation and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, which are implicated in the pathogenesis of seizures and chronic epilepsy. By inhibiting P2X7, the drug aims to reduce neuroinflammatory responses and modulate neuronal excitability. iN3011-K23 is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is classified as a new chemical entity (NCE).
